Activity Description

Experience an unforgettable wildlife adventure in the Pearl of Africa. Start at Murchison Falls with the Big 5 and a boat trip to the falls. Trek for chimpanzees in Kibale, then explore Queen Elizabeth National Park with game drives and a Kazinga Channel boat ride. Enjoy a gorilla trek in Bwindi and unwind at Lake Bunyonyi. Conclude with a scenic boat ride or nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park before heading back to Entebbe for your flight home.

Day By Day Activities

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport & Transfer to Kampala booked hotel
Upon arriving at Entebbe International Airport, an Emmkamp Tours English-speaking driver (tour guide) will greet you and take you to your accommodation. If you arrive early, you can choose a late afternoon tour of Kampala City or simply relax at your lodge. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP
After breakfast, you’ll travel to Murchison Falls National Park, where you’ll see the dramatic falls, expansive plains, and a variety of wildlife including lions, giraffes, hartebeests, buffaloes, and elephants. The Park is also known for its large populations of hippos and Nile crocodiles, and offers excellent birdwatching opportunities with 450 species, including the rare shoebill stork. En route, you’ll stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. Lunch will be in Masindi. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Cruise & Visit to top of the falls
After breakfast, you’ll set off on an early morning game drive through Uganda’s largest national park. Return to the lodge for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, and various water birds. For a memorable experience, you can hike to the top of the falls. Though the hike can be challenging, the view is well worth it. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer from Murchison Falls NP to Kibale NP
After breakfast, check out of the Safari Lodge and drive to Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through the stunning Albertine Escarpments and enjoy scenic countryside views. Stop for lunch in Hoima before arriving in Kibale Forest National Park in the evening.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk
After breakfast, you’ll receive a briefing for your chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest, guided by an experienced ranger. Once you find the chimpanzees, you’ll spend an hour observing them. Return to the lodge for lunch and some rest, then enjoy a walk in the Bigodi Swamp. This area is known for its rich biodiversity, including baboons, black and white Colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and L’Hoest monkeys. Birdwatchers will also delight in the variety of species here.

Day 6: Transfer from Kibale NP to Queen Elizabeth NP
Queen Elizabeth National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is one of the country’s top destinations. It’s the second largest park, set at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains and beside Lake Edward and Lake George, which are linked by the Kazinga Channel. The Park features a variety of landscapes, including savannah, bushland, wetlands, and forests, making it rich in biodiversity.

Here, you might see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and various antelope, along with predators like lions, leopards, and serval cats. The Park is also home to ten primate species, including vervet monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and the ever-active baboons.

Day 7: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat trip along Kazinga Channel
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out for a game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. You might see African tree-climbing lions, elusive leopards, Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, waterbucks, and warthogs, as well as over 200 bird species. After this 2–3-hour adventure, return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation before your afternoon boat cruise.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, where you’ll have the chance to spot hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and birds like kingfishers and shoebill storks. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 8: Game Viewing Experience
Have breakfast and then set off for a breathtaking game-viewing experience in the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park which is famous for its tree-climbing lions. You have about a 70% chance of spotting these lions. Hopefully, you will get lucky and see them because they make for a spectacular sight! You may also see Uganda kob, Cape buffalos, elephants, and warthogs. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 9: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth NP to Bwindi Impenetrable NP
Have an early breakfast and then head out for another chance to see the tree-climbing lions. Afterward, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to about 400 mountain gorillas, which is roughly half of the world’s population. Upon arrival, you can check in to your accommodation and relax, as you’ll have a big day ahead with gorilla trekking scheduled for tomorrow.

Day 10: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi NP, Batwa Community Experience and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Start with a hearty breakfast to prepare for the physically demanding gorilla trek. At 7:00 am, head to the Park Headquarters for a briefing. By 8:00 am, you’ll set off into the misty jungle to track mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The trek can take 2-6 hours, and once you find the gorillas, you’ll spend one hour observing and photographing them. Afterward, return to the lodge to relax. If you have extra time and energy, consider a cultural walk to visit Batwa villages and experience their traditional lifestyle and dances.
Later, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, check into your accommodation, and enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi Experience
After breakfast, you can choose to visit spend time with the Batwa (pygmies) community who live in and around the forest. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy spotting over 300 bird species. Alternatively, you might prefer a canoe trek on Lake Bunyonyi to explore its islands and learn about their history, all while enjoying a ride in a traditional dugout canoe. Return to your accommodation for lunch and some relaxation, reflecting on your trip so far.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo NP
After breakfast and a quick visit to Kabale town, you’ll head to Lake Mburo National Park. This small park offers unique wildlife experiences, including the chance to see zebras, impalas, slender mongooses, and giant bush rats, which you won’t find in other parts of Uganda. Look out for hyenas, leopards, topis, elands, and the stunning Rothschild’s giraffes. The lake is also home to hippos and crocodiles. Enjoy activities like horseback riding, bush walks, boat safaris, and mountain biking, all set in beautiful scenery with close-up wildlife encounters.

Day 13: Morning Nature walk and Afternoon Boat Safari
Lake Mburo National Park is special because you can take guided nature walks anywhere in the park. Early in the morning, you might see hyenas going back to their dens and hippos returning to the lake after grazing at night. You could also spot zebras, giraffes, elands, topis, buffaloes, birds, and butterflies. Hike up the hills for a stunning view of Lake Mburo and nine other regional lakes.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo to explore its diverse plant and animal life.

Day 14: Transfer back to Kampala – Entebbe
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and head to Entebbe. On the way, you’ll cross the equator and experience standing in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time. You’ll have time for lunch, shopping, and taking photos before heading to the airport in the late afternoon or evening. We recommend booking a late afternoon or evening flight for this day.
