Notes

Day By Day Activities

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe Airport, pickup & transfer to hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, an Emmkamp Tours assigned English-speaking professional tour driver-guide will greet and welcome you to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. You will then transfer to your booked accommodation to check in and rest, recovering from jet lag and adjusting to the time difference. Simply relax and take your rest.

Day 2: Travel to Zziwa for Rhino tracking & proceed to Murchison falls NP
After breakfast, we will transfer to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a successful conservation effort established to save Uganda’s near-extinct rhino population. Today, visitors to Uganda have the opportunity to encounter rhinos thanks to this initiative. Upon arrival at Zziwa, we will embark on an hour-long on-foot rhino tracking experience.

After rhino tracking, we will drive to Masindi for a lunch stop. Following lunch, we will continue our journey to Murchison National Park, where we will check into our booked accommodation and stay at leisure for the rest of the evening.

Day 3: Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise, Top of the Falls
Today after a healthy early breakfast, enjoy a full day of game viewing in Murchison Falls National Park, home to a diverse array of wildlife including buffalos, Jackson’s hartebeests, elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards, and hyenas. These animals are spread across the savannah grasslands, either grazing or hunting, creating a breathtaking landscape for game drives.

After lunch, we’ll continue our game viewing before embarking on an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile. This cruise will take us towards the mighty Murchison Falls, providing more wildlife encounters along the way. We’ll also visit the top of the falls for a spectacular view.

After a fulfilling day, we’ll return to the lodge to freshen up, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale NP
After breakfast, we’ll check out of our accommodation and embark on a journey to the edge of Kibale Forest National Park, where we will spend the night. Although the drive is long, it is incredibly scenic, passing through villages, lush green countryside, and hills dotted with tea plantations that define this part of Uganda. The beautiful scenery will captivate you all the way.

Upon arrival at our accommodation, you can check in and relax.

Day 5: Bigodi Wetlands excursion & transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
Have breakfast and head out for the Bigodi Wetlands excursion. The Bigodi Wetland is home to a diverse array of biodiversity, including several primate species such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and baboons. It is also a paradise for bird watchers.

After exploring Bigodi Wetlands (or Kibale Forest), embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll have some time for game viewing. During the game drive, look out for wildlife such as lions, the elusive leopard, herds of elephants, and buffaloes, among others.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise along Kazinga Channel
Rise early and enjoy breakfast before heading out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Keep an eye out for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants, and possibly lions and leopards (though they are hard to spot). Return to the accommodation for some rest and lunch.

After lunch, embark on a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes George and Edward. The trip will offer sightings of wildlife such as giant hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, as well as many bird species along the shores.

*After the boat trip, you can choose to either return to the lodge to rest or go on a brief late afternoon game drive before heading back to the lodge.

Day 7: After Breakfast, Drive to Ishasha sector and connect to Bwindi Impenetrable NP
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before traveling to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. While the chances of spotting these lions are around 60-70%, they can sometimes be elusive, especially when hunting in the grasslands. If you do spot them in the trees, the sight is both picturesque and memorable.

From Ishasha, continue to your accommodation at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. With a strenuous day ahead, you’ll have time to check in, relax, and prepare for tomorrow’s gorilla trekking experience.

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking Experience
Have breakfast and head to the rangers’ post for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will enter the forest for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular, with its dramatic, steeply forested landscape. The dense forest is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails that allow access for tourists. The duration of the trek, which can take 4-8 hours, and the terrain will vary depending on the movements of the gorillas. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The time spent with these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. After the trek, return to your accommodation to rest.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo NP
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and then, set off to Lake Mburo NP. Mburo is a compact gem, located conveniently close to the highway that connects Entebbe/Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah National Parks but home to so many bird species as well as animals such as: Giraffes, Zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, and the elusive leopard among others. We shall arrive and check in for some rest before heading out for a late afternoon-to-evening game drive that will bring us up close with the Mburo inhabitants. Finally, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Morning bush walk & return to Kampala/Entebbe
Enjoy an early breakfast before heading out for a morning bush walk in Lake Mburo National Park with an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. During this walk, you will have the chance to see zebras, giraffes, eland, topi, and other antelopes, as well as Cape buffaloes up close. After this wildlife encounter, return to your accommodation for checkout, then drive to Entebbe airport for your flight (1800hrs or later). On the way, stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for a photo opportunity and to buy souvenirs if interested.
