Activity Description

Lake Mburo National Park, located in western Uganda across Lyantonde, Mbarara, and Kiruhura districts, is 254 km from Kampala on the Mbarara highway. It’s famous for zebras and impalas, the latter being unique to this park in Uganda. Covering 370 km² with 20% wetlands, it’s a compact safari destination. Just 3-4 hours from Kampala, it’s perfect for bird watchers and offers exciting walking safaris, free from major predators. Lake Mburo also has the highest leopard population in Uganda.

Day By Day Activities

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park & Evening Game drive
Immediately after your arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to L. Mburo National Park with a stopover at the equator for refreshment and some photos and then proceed with en-route lunch. Check in the park and embark on the evening game drive from where we expect to view most of the wild animals such as zebras, impalas, elands, leopards, Topi, giraffes, and some bird species like infamous fin foot, handsome francolin among others then check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mburo safari lodge.

Day 2: Safari on foot/ walking safari & boat cruise
Safari breakfast is traditionally served before the day breaks so that you can start your morning game walk as the sun comes up. Sunrise is the best time for wildlife spotting as animals tend to be the most active during the golden hours. 2 hours walking safari with the ranger tailored towards specific bird’s life and/or wildlife interests. Impalas, zebras, common Elands, Topi, Giraffes etc. Lake Mburo attracts as rich array of birds and animals including the infamous Fin foot, grey crown crane, Handsome Francolin etc. you will explore game viewing on well-maintained tracks with the harmed rangers. Return for lunch and later embark on the afternoon boat cruise. This activity is incredible way to spot hippos, Nile crocodiles, king fishers, African fish eagles, fin foot. Dinner and overnight at Mburo Safari Lodge.

Day 3: Igongo cultural museum and transfer to Kampala
Morning breakfast or cup of coffee as you relax with the stunning view from the hill down the last savannah acacia landscape. Checking out of accommodation and transfer back-to-back home with en-route lunch at Igongo cultural museum and finally Entebbe for your flight back home.
